A normally open relay connects terminal 30 to 87 when its coil (85/86) is energised, so a low-current switch can safely control a high-current load such as driving lamps, fans, horns or pumps. The resistor across the coil suppresses switching spikes to protect sensitive electronics, and the sealed body suits exposed locations.

Wiring: 30 to fused battery positive, 87 to the load, 86 to the switched positive and 85 to earth. For a weatherproof installation, use the 26-184 sealed relay holder (sold separately).
