The brush holder locates the starter brushes against the commutator and keeps them under spring pressure so current can flow into the armature. A worn, cracked or shorted brush holder causes slow cranking, intermittent starting or a starter that won't turn at all. The SBH6024S suits Denso starter motors on a range of Toyota models.
