A change-over relay switches the supply on terminal 30 between two outputs: 87a when the coil is at rest and 87 when it is energised. Use it to swap between two circuits (such as low and high beam) or as a heavy-duty normally open or normally closed switch. The built-in diode suppresses the voltage spike when the coil switches off, protecting electronic switches and control modules.

Wiring: 30 to fused battery positive, 87 to the load, 87a to the alternative load, 86 to the switched positive and 85 to earth. Coil draw is 90mA, and a mounting bracket is fitted. Hella makes more than 100 million relays a year for OEMs including Ford, VW, GM and John Deere.
